A working group comprising of Porirua Community Arts Council members, local writers and teachers, and City Council staff have been jointly planning artistic commemorations of some of the City’s renowned poets and writers - to be designed and erected around the Wineera Drive waterfront over the next 4 years.
Following a joint City Council and Ngati Toa initiative late last year which saw a Pou commemorating wordsmith Te Rangihaeata unveiled on the corner of Titahi Bay Road and Wineera Avenue, an art work marking the significance of local writer Patricia Grace will now be launched as the next stage of the Porirua Writers’ walk.
You are invited to attend this significant event: The Arts Council has had a significant part to play in this project over the past few years.
Date: Saturday 2 July 2016. Wet or fine
Venue: waterfront, Wineera Drive, opposite the main entrance to Whitireia
A short onsite ceremony will be followed with tea and light refreshments in the Helen Smith Community Room, Pataka.
