As part of Waitangi Day Celebrations the Pauatahanui Anglican Church are undertaking a Parish walk from Hongoeka back to St Andrew's Church in Plimmerton.

The tour will recount stories of the Ngāti Toa Rangatira chiefs Te Rangihaeata and his uncle Te Rauparaha, particularly focussing on the Porirua and Kapiti areas. We will visiti sites of historic interest, recounting stories of the settlement of Ngati Toa in these areas, including the relevance these sites had in the past and continue to have in the present day.

Paania at Hauiti marae is organising tickets for a "Kaumatua's got Talent" event Dec 7th at the Porirua Club. I don't yet know what time. Tickets cost $10 each, but are in high demand. Paania has allocated 10 tickets to Hongoeka but says they are for the over 50s only.

Last night was a very special night for both Hongoeka, Ngati Toa Rangatira and the All Blacks.
The All Blacks will travel to the Rugby World Cup with a fresh understanding of the haka and what it means to be a New Zealander following a special visit to our marae last night.
